Haven't stayed there, but have stayed in a few other hotels in the SJC and North First Street vicinity, so I know the area a bit.

If you need info on the light rail system, here it is. Looks like the nearest stop to the hotel is only a couple blocks away or so, at North 1st/Metro Dr. ("Metro/Airport" stop).

P.S.: This area (SJC) is very good for cheap Priceline rates on hotels; i.e., around $35 per night plus tax and fee.
