We are in LAX Boardroom and watching a female pilot do her preFlight check. We have never seen anything like this before. Alaska plane 588-800 , Gate 66 , flying to SEA. She is in cockpit one minute, then walking Tarmac around the entire plane twice. Under the plane, checking the tail , pulling on baggage doors to make sure they are closed.
My husband thought she was going to crawl into the engine when she was checking it.
She even stopped to pick up a couple of trash off the Tarmac. She is back in cock pit doing systems check with window open. Back out again checking nose landing gear. We are amazed how through she is.
My husband just commented that he now always wants a woman pilot

I know,this is probably not unique, we have just never witnessed it.
Saw the same thing in SEA this morning...wonder if it was the same pilot. She even got in the wheel wells! I've never seen a pilot so thorough. Alaska has the best people, hands down!
