Stayed here in late August for 3 nights. Thought it was excellent (though not perfect). Great service (though arguably not even close to the level of the Four Seasons Sayan where we just came from, but it's a different ballgame). As a SPG Gold, I had like 3 managers come up to me and welcome me at check-in. We had booked an oceanview room with points - can't do online, you have to call. It wasn't that many extra points per night - 22,500 vs. 20,000 for the regular room. I suppose our Gold status got us "upgraded" to the top floor, where the bathrooms have skylights (and I think higher ceilings). Wasn't interested in a villa (had one at FS and wanted to be closer to pool with beach views), so didn't even pursue that route.

Thought the hotel dining was very good - for sure a premium to eating at a stand-alone restaurant, but probably not much more than any of the top-end restaurants in Seminyak (some of which are at other luxury hotels). Had a great burger at Fire for lunch, excellent chili crab for crab night at Starfish Bloo, and of course the Sunday brunch (for which we made advance reservations) at Starfish Bloo was unreal. Among the best I've ever had (and I've been to plenty of buffets!).

We knew this would be the case, but a little bummed we couldn't really sit out on the beach and swim, though as mentioned above, it's totally fine to go knee-deep, or probably even waist-deep. But think overall Seminyak is probably a much better place to stay than Nusa Dua, especially for Americans who came all that way during their own summer. (Probably a different equation for Australians during their winter).
