I am also on a 'spend my points now' spree, but luckily I have plenty of past travel to redeem against.
Another option would be to redeem against past travel charges (and you didn't hear this from me but their idea of 'travel' is actually absurd, apparently my gym membership classes as travel, that's what I redeemed against last week!) Or you could book and pay for something fully refundable (a flight, hotel etc.) that classes as travel, redeem the points against it, then get a refund, which you can use to book your travel however and whenever you like.
So weird - I checked the FAQ yesterday and it said something different that today, so yes glad I don't have to rush and book.

@LondonElite (i need to figure out how to tag you!) - Generally I'm not a fan of AC, but I travelling domestically it does make more sense.....will do more research now that I have a bit more time it seems!
