Highest speeds?
Winds seem strong at the moment. For ORD-LHR the other night, we had a 6h25 total flight time, and at some point, the flight map indicated that we had a tail wind of over 350km/h and actual speed of 1280km/h which is above mach. I'm not sure if something was wrong with the indicators but this is certainly the highest 'peak speed' I remember seeing. Do current commercial aircrafts sometimes go even faster than that? (this was a 747).
