So I was thinking I'd in-kind transfer Vanguard IRA ETFs to Citibank IRA to maintain the 50K balance. This would be fee free. Then I'd be able to keep Citigold for a while as well and get the sign up bonus. Has anyone done this?
I am probably going to move the rest of my liquid cash over to Citi over the next couple months; I don't have any fees with my previous checking account so I'm not in a rush, but I've had good interactions with Citi so far. There's a branch a couple blocks from my office in San Francisco and I've found that whenever I have any question or issue that has to be addressed, I can just walk over and have a banker take care of it immediately without having to call customer support. They've been extremely helpful and friendly. I'm probably just lucking out with that particular branch, but it's making me a lot more likely to switch over for good.
