Trying to plan a flight DFW-NRT early next year and due to AA's ancient airplanes on that route, I'm considering JAL's new 787 service instead. I'm curious if anyone's done both and if the loss of EQM's in discount business class (I'm not sure if I'll ended up booked in discount or full fare) on JAL is worth avoiding the 777-200?

I normally qualify for my status through EQP's, so I'm not used to worrying about miles, so I'm really not sure if it's a major difference or not in miles earned or not.

Also, the website says the following:
-Buy an eligible published fare ticket booked in an eligible code
-Fly an eligible route

What are these eligible tickets/codes/routes and how do I know if my ticket will earn EQM's?
