I think I luck out with United miles sometimes... I can always find economy awards.

I'm trying to use some AA miles to get to Tokyo (or any city in Japan) for late December. I mean there is literally nothing, and I know you can't use AA miles for premium econ on JAL (which im finding on BA search tool). That suckkkkss.

You think anything will open up the closer it gets, or is that not how it works?

I've got Amex miles I could transfer to a partner like Singapore -- and I have United miles too, but I was really hoping to use these AA miles somehow. I'm flexible with dates AND with cities... If i need to fly from Chicago, or LAX, fine. But damn, there's nothing.
