Thank you very much for your replies.
Some answers for the posts written since my last reply:
1. The flight from DUB to LAX was at 06:30AM. I checked the flight status around 08:30PM before going to bed and everything was normal. Of course it was a mistake that I haven't checked again when I woke up at 04:00AM but the time was pushing in order to reach the airport on time.
2. The airline did not offer any reroute to the passengers arriving at the airport and also did not sent any email for the 14 hour delay. I was the only passenger requested reroute and they also rerouted another passenger traveling in business.
3. I accepted the reroute cause I didn't know the rules about the mile collection and cause I didn't want to loose the day in Dublin for nothing. It was a business-pleasure trip to LA scheduled , I should be staying to LA only for 4 days (THU-FRI-SAT-SUN) and I didn't want to waste one of them. I chose ET due to the miles rules (100%) and also cause i wanted to fly with the new dreamliner.
Now since there is no hope to retrieve the miles from DUB-LAX I have to earn the remaining 6.500miles to maintain my gold status till 24th of November.
I booked a ticked with A3 ATH-LCA-LHR-ATH for 185EUR from Priceline. All flights are in the same day which means that I won't have to pay for a hotel. I also upgraded the seats to business using the free coupons i have as A3G member.
This is going to be my first mile run. According to the fare i will earn 3070 miles and I have the option to buy an additional 2.000 upgrade miles for 100EUR (25 per 500miles) so I will need an extra 1500 miles to reach 6500.
I am thinking to use the 50% coupons for domestic flights that i have in my account in order to earn the remaining miles and finally reach the goal.
If there are any other suggestions-recommendations , please let me know.
Last but not least I would like some help in order to start the compensation claim with ET.
Is there any form to do it?
I called the civil aviation authority and they told me that first i have to send an email to the airline claiming that i am eligible for this compensation due to delay. Then i need to wait airlines reply. If their reply is negative or if they refuse to compensate me i will have to send this to the civil aviation authority and they will send the request back to the airline in order to get paid but they told me that in this case airline may get a penalty.
Is this the correct procedure to follow for my claim?
Thank you again for reading.
