The only other Regency Resorts I have been to, Waikiki and Maui, both had club lounges.
If anything, Hakone is closer to an Andaz than a Regency...
Who knows. HR Kyoto is another outlying Regency that has no lounge and is considerably more upscale than stateside Regency flagged properties.
A lot of hotel chains have branding anomalies. The "Sheraton" in Sukhumvit (BKK) actually is managed under the Luxury Collection brand, so is not a "real" Sheraton (it is considerably nicer than most Sheratons).
Until recently the historic Ritz-Carlton Chicago was "The Ritz-Carlton, a Four Seasons Hotel" (it is now actually under Ritz-Carlton management).
