I think he realizes he has to retrieve his bags

What he means is can he check his bags for the flight the next day PRIOR to leaving the airport

Leave Plane
Retrieve baggage
Check baggage for next day flight
Go to hotel
Attend meeting
Show up at airport and get on flight, knowing you checked your bags last night
