"Ear Planes" Device

Not sure if this is the correct forum? Redirect if better spot appreciated.

My wife has significant ear problems when traveling if she has even the slightest amount of head congestion. What happens is her ears will not "pop" to adjust to altitude/pressure changes. She likens it to "hot razor blades" stabbing her inner ear!! We have driven back, across country, after she had "problems" on the way outbound and pitch our return tickets in the trash. Many more stories, but suffice to say, we have tried all types of prescrition drugs to dry her ears out, etc......

What I am wondering is, has anyone tried these "Ear Planes" that claim to equalize the inner ear pressure? First hand report of experience with these would help my cause, of trying to help her with this tough issue. By the way, she is not new to travel, the frequency of the problem just seems to be increasing. She has 500,K to date with AA, DL & UA. Many thanks for any thoughts!!
