Yes, you are eligible because you arrived at your final destination more than 3 hours after scheduled arrival time. ET may claim extraordinary circumstances but the EU has made it pretty clear that a plane mechanical is not an extraordinary circumstance.
You may be able to get ORC but if retaining A3*G is important to you, I wouldn't count on it. Contact ET about ORC, however, if they decide to give you a run around or ignore you indefinitely, there's not much you can do about it.
ARN-SFO RT for the last weekend you can take a trip and still count for this status qualifying period is selling for under 600 EUR, if you can take a couple days off work.
