I don't really have a problem looking for the lounges, but must say that I used to and with experience I have learned who to ask. We are pre-occupied with lounges and tend to think that everybody at an airport must know all about every lounge, but trust me there is little point in asking a generic employee.

First do as much online research, look into inflight magazines, etc. Usually that is enough to learn that there is a lounge by Gate #29 and another one by Gate #87 or something like that. If I still need to ask, then I'd approach:

An official information desk (they may not know the answer but have resources to find out),
A gate agent of the same airline, or
A receptionist at any lounge (they know one another).

This method seldom fails me.
