This is what I was thinking. On AA there is adequate space in J and one overhead has crew stuff in it as well.
A 737 minus all the middle seats is going to be a replica of AA J except the seats will be narrower but I should think with preboarding and the overheads aimed at the Plus passengers there would be not a lot of difference.
