I'm with you on this. Elite status and the perks that come with that are much more valuable to me than RDM.

Not sure what perks are worth 80% drop in RDM. Unless the RDM are made worthless of course, which is yet to come.
If UA and DL are any example of "innovations" then partner earning will still be mileage based. Potentially better for cheap premium fares then flying AA.
