I'm trying to figure out how this will impact the husband. He doesn't fly cheap fares in order to qualify, he flies cheap fares because his company requires him to. (Must select lowest reasonable routing and fare or you will hear about it) He usually ends up flying about 70K worth of cheap domestic fares with 1 or 2 discounted business class trips on Qatar/BA/Cathay. I need to take a look at a spreadsheet, because trying to do it in my head is making my head spin.
- He'll lose RDM when his fares are less than roughly $0.18/mile if he's an EXP, and gain when his fares are higher than that.
- He'll gain some EQM in 2016 on his overseas trips
- Most of us are assuming that he'll lose some EQM in 2017 on some of his domestic trips, depending on how far in advance he has to purchase and whether the flights are empty enough at that point to have the really cheap fare classes available.
