I have always done mine in person as I never seem to be able to get away without having one for more then 3 or 4 days, luck of the Irish I guess. Then it takes 1 - 2 days.

Could it be that the time it takes is based upon how polite your posts are in FT? Perhaps they read FT and make the decision. Of course, this means that your passport should arrive any day
