Why reassure her? IMNTBMFHO her fears are justifiable. There is no security. All that exists is the illusion of security. The parking lots near the airports allow light artillery warheads to bring down jets loaded with fuel on takeoff, the ice served on most planes can be drugged, poisoned, the airline personnel do not appear to be screened.

Many of the people conducting security screenings are not citizens, many are immigrants who have yet to prove any loyalty to this country (an earnest attempt to speak English, dress in a appropriate fashion, and develop normal grooming habits would help) and I would not be surprised to find that many are illegal aliens. This is security?

How secure do you think the food service facilities are at airports? How hard would it be to smuggle munitions into a food establishment and then carry it onboard? How about an incendiary device?

And I have yet to see anyone question the National Guard people when they enter the airport. I watched this very closely at O'Hare on Sunday, they just waltz wherever they please carrying presumably loaded weapons. There is no accounting for the number of arms they carry. In other words they can easily drop a weapon anywhere they wish for an accomplice to find.

I believe your friend’s fears are justifiable and reasonable. It is logical to conclude that terrorism will strike the travel industry again. The impact has been devastating, and with the Government bailing the airlines out (read that as the taxpayers) it is an easy way to go after the whole country.
