I actually stayed there in December. Overall, it's a pretty nice property, probably one of the top 3 or 4 in Amsterdam. Nice big room, good service, and very helpful concierge. Location is somewhat mixed- yes, it's on a nice canal, 3 minute walk from Dam Square, 15 minute walk from Central Station, and no more than a 20 minute walk from almost any attraction or site you could want. However, it's very close to the red light district, and the seedy types that can be found there can also be found near this hotel.
