If it makes you feel any better, the automated barriers at T2 LHR don't work either if you are relying on *G rather than Business Class to get through.
They have worked fine for me flying LH or LO in Y with A3*Gold in the booking. LHR T2 Fasttrack is consistently excellent IME.
