Cairo security, at least for international flights, has always seemed thorough to me having to go through security both to enter airside and then again at the individual boarding gates. Bags are also x-rayed before entering the check-in area as well.
I've only flown domestic from SSH and that was just a single security check to get airside. No experience of international departures at SSH.
