Absolutely spot on - we're a fully-fledged small city in our own right, and have been a thriving port, university city and geographical centre of a rich agricultural and industrial (well, whisky!) region long before oil was discovered. It's not all we're about.
I am actually resident in the area and plenty of people that I know (that are not employed in the oil industry), go on holiday every year. I seriously doubt that anyone inside the M25 has any idea on the limitations of public transport in the NE Scotland and the extra costs involved (perhaps we should get a holiday allowance similar to the London weighting!!).
Me too - I enjoy holidays in destinations served by Gatwick and agree with earlier posters that a seasonal route (school holidays as a starting point, perhaps) would prove popular.
In terms on passanger numbers, ABZ has not seen anything like a 30% fall in fixed wing traffic.
The pricing for EZY in the summer months suggests that there is money to be made in seasonal service.
