There is absolutely no way that ABZ-LGW was not profitable when IAH and ATL were served from LGW.
I think a seasonal service would be good for BA's bottom line. Not many people I know make the trip from LHR to LGW for leisure. They will choose to take EZY or fly from other airports such as GLA or EDI (at a premium).
