IC Amsterdam Amstel

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes! The best hotel experience I've ever had.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a standard room on points. Was upgraded to an Executive Suite with river view.

How are the rooms?

The room was amazingly beautiful, with an awesome view of the canals. I fell in love with the room so much I canceled my trip to Brussels to stay another night in Amsterdam. Large entry foyer, huge living room with high ceilings and hardwood floors. Beautiful bedroom with massive master bath. My favorite thing about the room was the large windows that open up to the river.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

Did you receive a welcome gift?

Come to think of it, no I didn't. But I was offered some refreshments at check-in.

How was the minibar?

On a reward night I was given free minibar. But the hard alcohol on the table is not included. Only what's in the fridge which is beer, wine, waters, juices, etc.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good

Everything! Amazing service and attention to detail. Being escorted to my room and explained the amenities and benefits was nice. The room and view was incredible. Also being able to rent a bike from the concierge desk was convenient. All benefits honored on reward night was great.

-Bad

$65 per night parking and no club lounge.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?

Absolutely!

Would you return?[/QUOTE]

Yes! I can't wait to go back. I originally booked one night on points and fell in love with the hotel and property. I wanted to stay a second night but they were sold out of points nights. I asked the reservations department if they would accept points for the second night instead of the 550 Euro rate for that night. They very politely declined. I then offered 100,000 points for the second night, and they explained that it's a small hotel (78 rooms) and they can only afford to give a few rooms per night on points. I was bummed. They offered me their friends and family rate which was 250 Euros. I happily accepted.

But later on I got a call from the reservations department. They noticed my loyalty to the IC brand, and made things happen. They accepted points for my second night, manually deducted them from my account, and allowed me to stay for a second night. I truly appreciated the fact that they tried to make my stay as great as possible. They could have easily taken the 250 Euro payment, but they valued my loyalty more, and allowed me to redeem points. This speaks volumes.
