Cabin Class or Booking Class
Hope someone can explain this to me:
Several months ago, I flew economy return with Swiss from JFK-ZRH-CPH. I booked the ticket with the objective of earning miles with SQ. The boarding passes for all four flights denote Class Y, which I believed gave 100% accrual. The miles were never awarded, so I recently applied for retroactive credit with Krisflyer.
The reply, printed verbatim below, confuses me:
Thank you for your email to Singapore Airlines regarding retroactive mileage claim. We apologise for the delay in our response to you.
Please allow us to clarify that the letter “Y” on the boarding pass denotes the Economy Cabin Class that members are travelling on. The actual booking class is displayed on the ticket as it is derived according to the fare conditions of the ticket purchased. As such we will not be able to proceed for retroactive mileage claim due to your booking class is not eligible.
I was subsequently informed by SQ that this ticket was Class K and hence not eligible. Shouldn't this fare class be listed somewhere on my boarding pass? How can I verify this, since I recall spending time when booking to ensure the ticket was indeed a qualifying purchase for SQ miles. Unfortunately, I no longer have the ticket purchase invoice from Swiss, just the e-ticket numbers and boarding passes. Is there anything else I can do?
