I'm glad I'm not the only one who has seen this trend and thinks it's crazy. What I hadn't put together in my head is that it does seem to be concentrated in HPs. I'm not sure I can come up with an example that isn't an HP actually

#2 was at the HP Fremont.

#1 I experience at the HP San Jose Downtown a lot. We've got an LRA corporate rate there that is WAY below the prevailing rate (tied to Gov per diem). In the past it was always easy to get a room because basically all rooms were the same category. When they introduced the "High Floor" category (probably within the last year or so, it became much harder. Now I'll see rooms available, but because they are high floor, they are not eligible for the corporate rate. And really, that is what drove #4 in the list probably more than anything else.
