Nearly correct. You can't use it if EEA, Swiss, Registered Traveller or the various UK overseas Citizens - henceforth referred to as "EEA etc". However children who are EEA etc should use this channel if their parents - or those with Parenting Responsibility - are not EEA etc.

There's no passport check for international connecting passengers, though BA agents often - but not always - ask to see the passport. But yes, you are correct on who can use this fast track.

This is EEA etc, but minus certain UK overseas citizens, and technically excluding odds and sods like Canary Island citizens (however it does in fact work for them). However if you have your or Parenting Responsibility children with you, you're not supposed to send them down their staffed channel and go through e-gates yourself. Yes you need a biometric chip, it doesn't have to work, since there is a manual route too, but identity cards are not sufficient.
