In my experience, resort fees for Hilton properties are disclosed on the booking page in bold print as an additional daily charge. So I would question if this is "obscure".
Is this case on the website booking page only, or does it also appear when booking a room using the Hilton app?
I haven't stayed at a place that charges a resort fee, but some of the charges/fees for "regular" hotels (such as parking costs) can be buried pretty deeply and hard to find when booking a room using the app.
