Hello fellow travellers,
I live in Berlin, Germany and recently bought a flight to Ecuador for me and some friends using a discount code I purchased on a deals page.
The code allowed me to book all passengers with the same discount, and I paid the rest via paypal.
The airline now contacted me saying the coupon was used illegally because it should have only offered a discount to one passenger, and wants to cancel the booking and make a refund...
I do have already the e-tickets and receipts that prove that I purchased the flight in honesty through their website, and the mistake is theirs not mine. But I don't want to cancel the flight and have to pay full price for all passengers.
I've been doing some legal reading and seems that an airline cannot change a fare after ticket has been emitted, even if it was their own mistake. I am consulting a lawyer as well, but maybe someone here had an experience with a so called 'error fare' and can let me know my rights.
