Batteries and laptops in checked luggage - ok or not?
Six months ago flying long haul on Emirates I was asked at the check in if I had any batteries in my check in luggage. I had an old and heavy laptop in my suitcase for check in and was asked to remove the laptop altogether or definitely remove the battery. I wonder if this rule is still in place. I am travelling Emirates once more soon from the Americas to Asia and will carry a laptop in my checked luggage only if that is allowed. Otherwise will give it a skip. (Each trip to Asia I take a laptop donated by somebody and give it to a school for poor kids who have no computer at all, have only heard of the internet, and a laptop, even an outdated one, is for these kids something precious and a window to the world). If anybody has any info. about the latest rules I would appreciate it. Thank you.
