If AA sticks to its general policies, it will not check your bags through. Many agents will do this for you and there is no particular rhyme or reason to it. Presuming that the 11:40 is overnight, it will be a bit tougher.

Either way, I would make certain that you have adequate baggage insurance. You won't be shopping for much beyond necessities on AA's dime until 21 days if you are depending on AA.
