Agreed. Any time I get an attempted "upsell" or some other excuse why I can only have the "room I booked" I send a scathing email to Hyatt Gold Passport and usually get some kind of compensation.
Naturally because this is so rare and the corporate response so good this makes me quite the Hyatt loyalist...
As for the limited points availability because of fewer basic rooms, this can definitely be a problem, but if you call HGP you might still find C&P, since the hotel gets more money that way and might have loaded more availability.
