EK appears to be avoiding the Sinai.

DXB-BEY (once upon a time) used to fly straight over Syria and into Lebanon. As of last week it would fly over KSA, then straight up the Sinai (like Metrojet), over the Med and then turn East to land into BEY.

Check out today's DXB-BEY flight path: over the Gulf, then Iran, then South West over Turkey to then head back South over the Med to land into BEY...

Definitely the long way around!
