Last a checked, I need a magstripe card at Esso. There's no barcode scanner at the pump.

Exactly! And thanks for the heads up on PP... I hadn't taken the time to look through the updated app yet.

*Yes, most MLLs will grant access with a boarding pass only, but every time I've tried to enter with a companion I've been told my card is required.
I have not been asked for my card at an MLL in a LONG time (2 years?), regardless of what I'm doing or who I'm bringing in.

The bigger problem is OTHER lounges.

This. They would not let me in with a boarding pass for AC PY that said S100K on it. They required a photocopy of my physical *G card.

This was in February 2015.

AC MLLs do not require your card. You just need a boarding pass. It's the other lounges around the world I'm worried about.

Even Swiss required my physical card (they had a magstripe reader, nothing else) 18 months ago to let me into their Senator lounge with a guest. Otherwise my guest would have been left outside, and I would have been in the business lounge.

So I'd say THAT'S why they don't have virtual cards. You don't need ANY card (virtual or otherwise) in the AC network, and you NEED a physical card elsewhere.
