While age certainly may have had something to do with this issue, it doesn't necessarily hafto be age related. A coupl'a years ago, I was on a brand new CR9. It still had "new plane smell"! Someone tried to close the overhead bin door, and it literally, just snapped off! We were delayed about a half hour when the mechanic finally showed up with a roll of duct tape!
