I stayed here last night (Saturday, October 31), as I was seeing some clients in the area. Normally I'd have gone straight home, but as I was one night away from reaching Diamond Level, I decided to overnight here.
At check-in I received a warm welcome and was in my room within moments, complete with a complimentary snack/drink voucher.
I went downstairs and had a light lunch, and then retired back to my room to watch an afternoon of television.
Thinking I was in for a quiet afternoon, I was somewhat amused to be "treated" to the sounds of what can only be described as "bedroom olympics" from the occupants next door. Despite turning up the tv to drown out the audible commentary, this unique experience just went on and on. I decided to take a walk to the local shop a few hundred yards away, and thought I'd take a "slow" meander back to the hotel. I'd been gone about thirty minutes, watched some trains go past from the next door Luton Parkway Station, and got back to the room, thinking all would be quiet. My "athletic" next door neighbours were obviously going for a "gold medal", but after another ten minutes everything went quiet and I continued watching tv in peace.
At about 8pm, I went down to dinner, as I couldn't be asked to walk ten minutes or so, in the dark, to the local Beefeater. There was a notice to say that the restaurant menu had been revamped.
The menu is standard fare, but it really isn't too bad either. It certainly equals that of the Beefeater fare, and IMHO exceeds it too. Staff were very friendly, with Richard, the very amiable bar tender, being efficient and welcoming. It's a pity that HBH only give points for their room rate, as the extra points spent on food and drink would be helpful.
I retired to my room at about 10.30pm, and it was all quiet on the western front. At about 2am, my neighbours decided to reenact their afternoon performance and this went on for about 45 minutes.
My last night as a Gold member certainly was eventful and did cause me to have a laugh. It's not the hotel's fault, but beware, the walls can be rather thin!
In terms of service and comfort, I have no qualms with the hotel or staff, in any way. If you are travelling from Luton Airport early, or arriving back late, this makes the perfect place to stay, especially with Luton Airport Parkway Station literally next door, and some one minute walk, at max.
I'd be happy to recommend this hotel and return again when in the area. Hopefully, I might get a quiet night. :-)
