I guess that AC has now re-introduced the cereal option in its overseas breakfast menu. I was flying last month from YOW to VIE via FRA on AC - and guess what, the option has re-appeared. I did take advantage of that!
Of note- for the last couple long-haul domestic UA flights I have taken, cereal was offered as an option on the breakfast menu.
The cereal has been on the breakfast a la carte menu for over a year now... ever since they introduced the a la carte cards like in July 2014? This has been covered in the International J food thread as well.
