I'm surprised BA can afford to retire two more 747 this week. I assume that's possible with some of the 787-9 deliveries and some changes for the winter schedule?
A quick look at flightradar24 (out of curiosity to see what's happened/happening to G-BNLX today) suggests that those two aircraft might possibly even be flying on for a bit, perhaps for exactly the reason you suggest. I know that it's not 100% reliable as a predictor, but it seems to suggest that G-BNLX has further flights planned for the coming days.
