Dear Eccollect. May I give you a piece of advice which is probably unnecessary but you sound sensitive, and after that experience you have every reason so to be.
Ask yourself three questions about your fellow passengers. Are the God? Are they paying your rent? Do you love them? Since the answer to all three is probably "No" , to blazes with them and their opinions. Politeness may preclude you from telling them where they can go, but they are bound there anyway. Quite honestly they all sound as though they were inembriated.
You eat what you want, you drink what you like and you report them all to American. I suggest that you post on the American Board and they will probably advise you to whom you should address this.
I have to say that I have never encountered this sort of behaviour. If they were teasing, it was improper, if they were not it is a disgrace. I certainly hope that they get JFK-CDG as that is where they will come unstuck. If they try mouthing off to some of that lot (or better still on the Londons) they will get more than 99c change for their dollar.
Age is irrelevant, and as a fare paying passenger you are entitled to be in that cabin (they were probably peeved that you "took" one of thier playmates space).
Ref the chatterboxes. it is amazing how accidents with cold water can happen manouvering in and out of seats even in F class. Of course, if they actually piped down, you'd have slept and not needed a glass of water. Clumsiness is well known to occur with sleep deprivation n'est-ce pas?
Why does one have to be disagreable to teach others manners?
