Interesting.

These double sectored AA flights stem from their relationship with the former US Airways. On US you would only get one lot of TPs typically, whereas on AA you would get 2. With the merger now complete I'm watching this to see if the US or AA practice is the new modus vivendi, and this report is a bit worrying. AA is having to retain these flight numbers due to the sheer size of the combined operation and various restrictions on the use of existing flight numbers.

Personally I think you should ask BA to look into this to confirm that this is correct. I think it should be 2 allocations, particularly when it's not really a through service.
