You forgot to quote the "or, rather" part, which is really the emphasis of the sentence. But playing along - no one bats an eye at a well-dressed man in the middle east or Asia, both places I believe are less gay-friendly than the US. Anyway, that's not the topic of discussion, the topic was simply me feeling inadequant wearing a t shirt and jeans.

We carry guns and wear t shirts wear in the US. No suits and stuff.
