They will rebook you on CX the next morning and put up likely at the Regal. And it's not like you're missing out on much with such a late BKK arrival. The only real downside is if you have a non-cancelable hotel res in Bangkok. Last time UA misconnected me into BKK, I e-mailed Shangri-La and they were happy to change my reservation with no charge.
I tried booking EWR-HKG-BKK, HKG-EWR. UA keeps giving me HKG-BKK as Y so that segment is about $860 but it shows lower fare classes available. Is there a way to have it book lower? I'd book separate but I want to be protected incase of a mis-connect
