Sounds like Ryanair are looking at doing what Flybe does quite a lot, already, except they want overturn the longstanding convention that the airline you check in with takes full financial responsibility for luggage not popping out at the other end.

The thing with RyanAir is they are big, and could potentially bring a lot of connecting passengers in from airports where the long haul carriers have no presence.
