Are you asking about using the Southwest Visa card to purchase gift cards? If so, most retailers don't allow the purchase of gift cards using credit cards, only cash or ATM cards. If you do find a retailer that does allow it, according to Chase's Southwest Visa Cardmember Agreement, gift card purchases do not earn points or count towards bonuses... technically. It really depends on how the retailer's charge appears (is coded) when Chase sees it. There's no way of telling in advance if you'll receive the points/credit, although others have posted that they have.
I posed the same question on creditboards.com and was told you do get credit for points (miles) when charging gift cards using an airline card. Guess the best thing is to call Chase and ask.
