Had to make a day trip to HKG yesterday and found this fare. First time on HX and have to say at this price, it won't be my last. While service was not as polished as CX or TG and food was not good, you can't beat the flat beds in a 1-2-1 configuration. They have 4 or 5 daily flights in each direction on, I believe, well worn A330's.

PROS: The price. The relatively friendly and very efficient flight attendants. The lounge in HKG (while not a CX lounge, nice enough with a great soup/noodle bar). The price. The price.

CONS: The food. Outbound menu featured 3-courses of Thai food from The Blue Elephant, a well known Bangkok restaurant and cooking school with some international branches. It was marginal and bland at best. Inbound (10:10pm departure, so 'Refreshment' only) featured Duck Leg Rice soup from a well known Hong Kong restaurant...it was BAD. The alcohol policy: They only serve beer and wine (do your serious drinking in the lounge), and the cheap French red was beyond BAD...it may well be the worst French wine I have ever tasted...even worse than the Jordanian red served by RJ on the same route. The entertainment system: while it had on demand movies and music, the selection (IMHO) was terrible.
