I was in Venice in late May. Most the hotels around the airport look pretty cheesy and typical for European airport hotels. Nothing memorable, unless that's what you want.

If you are going in Venice anyhow (the airport is 1/2 hour+ from Venice), you should consider staying in town. Most places want you to stay a minimum three nights, but I found one that was more flexible.

I stayed at Locanda Novo two nights, separated by five nights in Croatia. I found the place quiet, comfortable, clean and well run. Some rooms are large, some small. It's modest, but only cost $68.00 in late May. It's just off San Paulo square. I think they just opened this year, hence their flexibility as they develop a reputation.
