If the card has your name printed on it, then your name is encoded on the card's mag stripe also. Whether there is some other connection to Amex systems that displays any sort of other information on screen when you swipe a card, I don't know. I'm not sure you'll know until you try it.
Yes - wife's account, my name on the card. Not preferred by AMEX, but not technically illegal. This was her idea, since she got the 100K bonus, but I needed the card. This is only as issue because they make you pay for a second card, otherwise, we would have done it the normal way. The downside is that according to AMEX, the name on the account is what is encoded on the strip, not the name on the card, which makes no sense to me.
For example, if I use an alias, or a nickname, because I dont want anyone to know my real name, it would still print on my receipts according to the two reps I spoke with last night. doesnt make sense, but I'm not going to push it.
We'll try it until we hit the spend, then cancel it, and I'll sign up for my own account if it keeps being a problem.
