Agree with the logic, but switching to the RJ I want to eventually refare on should be very straightforward - they made a schedule change, I want a more convenient flight. At that point (in a separate transaction with a different agent most likely) I would request buying up to F - whether that's possible is less straightforward and the basis of this thread. I've been able to do this online in the past (with a positive fare difference), but that option is not showing up for me now on my current flight with a sizable positive difference in fare, so I'd be at the mercy of an agent being willing and able.

This is not a problem, I'm not trying to hide anything. I've upgraded to F and bought up to F in the past on company tickets. This has never been an issue as long as a new expense to the company is not incurred.
