Just to be clear, that's the Star Alliance rule but not the oneworld rule. For oneworld, the restriction on access to lounges applies to AA elites (only) on all intra-North America flights (with exceptions for some routes), irrespective of the lounge operator. So the distinction between domestic and international itineraries does matter for AA elites and AA F/J passengers even at the TBIT oneworld lounge.

But the main point, that the TBIT lounge should admit eligible customers on AA domestic flights from LAX connecting to long haul oneworld international flights, is of course correct.
